It was brought to my attention that the Institute for Local Government (ILG) publication, that is affiliated with the League of California Cities, referenced the high risk of credit card misuse at a conference that was well attended by the Council for the Town of Apple Valley (TOAV).
The ILG publication said misuse is so high that a number of agencies have stopped issuing credit cards. It went on to give several options to the use of credit cards, such as reimbursing employees for their expenses and the use of an agency credit card that would have internal controls to prevent misuse.
Due to the misuse of the TOAV credit cards being exposed lately I think the TOAV should be looking into this problem.
