Who could be worse than CalTrans at road maintenance? The Town of Apple Valley can be worse, that’s who!

You would think that before seizing control of our water utility in a hostile takeover, the Town would at least pretend to demonstrate some water awareness — this is a desert, after all — and you would be wrong.

From February 21st to March 11th, this sign was broken off in the street. Public safety may not be important to the Town of Apple Valley, but you can’t neglect a water utility like this.

No matter how many videos there are showing problems at Apple Valley’s Horsemens’ Center, Town Manager always seems up to the task of creating new problems to keep concerned citizens busy. Do not let Frank and the crew at Town Hall seize control of our water utility: Vote no
on the Town’ ballot measure in June.

With something like $10 million in annual payroll, wouldn’t you think that there would be someone working for the Town of Apple Valley who could notice problems such as this, and maybe even call them in? Wouldn’t you think that after years of being in local control,
Town Manage Frank Robinson could find employees who would do what Frank says they are doing? You would be wrong on each count.

The Town of Apple Valley must have gotten a great deal on those flooded
signs it puts out before, during, and after it rains. Too bad they couldn’t get a deal on a couple of shovels, and eliminate the problem before it starts.

If the Town of Apple Valley cannot properly run the water system at the Apple Valley Golf course — over which it has complete and total local control,
— how can it pretend it will properly run the water system for the entire town? Only a fool would be willing to gamble $150,000,000 to find out.

So, the Town spent millions buying the golf course and the water rights that went along with it, and this is how they manage the water (since finally getting the wells and pumps running at great expense, of course). Note that at the golf course, the Town has total local control
over every aspect of the water, from pumping it out of the ground, to setting the water schedule, to system maintenance, etc.

This is how easy it is to fix some of the road flooding in Apple Valley. It even takes less time that putting out the flooded
signs and then collecting them afterward.
